Employee Profile: Assistant Plumber Leader Donald Dowell

After 20 years at Louisville Water’s Allmond Distribution Center, Donald Dowell is hanging up his hard hat for the last time.

Dowell works as an Assistant Plumber Leader in the Metering Department and will retire on Sept. 30, exactly 20 years from his first day on the job on Sept. 30, 2000.

His dedication to working at Louisville Water not only shows in his time served, but also in his daily commute.

“I live more than an hour away near Rough River,” he said.

Located almost 100 miles south of Louisville, Dowell makes the drive every day to service water meters that keep Louisville pure tap® flowing.

He’s seen lots of changes on the job over the years, and lately social distancing has changed the way he gets to each work site.

“We used to ride to each site together, but due to COVID, each person has to drive separate trucks,” he said.

When asked what he will miss the most, Dowell said the many familiar faces in the meter shop.

“I will miss my coworkers, but I look forward to enjoying my farm.”

Congrats, Donald and cheers to a relaxing retirement!
