After 18 years in broadcast news — working at television stations in not only Louisville but also Indianapolis and Baltimore — Lauren Horton is now Louisville Water’s Digital Media Specialist.
She focuses on creating and posting content for the company’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
“I scratch my journalism itch by interviewing employees and writing articles for LouisvilleWater.com as well as shooting and editing videos,” said Horton, who joined the company in 2019.
“I love this job because our Communications Department operates like a newsroom,” she added. “Our approach to educating our customers and keeping them informed is unmatched! It’s an amazing feeling when other water utilities from around the country look to Louisville Water for communications guidance. It makes me even more proud to be a part of the team.”
Managing social media isn’t always a 9-to-5 job. It sometimes requires working nights as well as weekends. Horton said that when she does have some free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, hosting family gatherings, and doing community service projects with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
