For the week of October 6-12:

  • Zone 3: Our active work zone is on River Road near Limestone Bay Club and Harbor Town Condominiums. Please refer to the map below for an overview of the construction area. Signage for local access to homes, businesses, and marinas on River Road will be posted. Please follow the signs for current entry and exit routes.
  • To access Juniper Beach Docks, Limestone Bay Club, and Harbor Town Condominiums, use River Road from Lime Kiln Lane
  • We will pave River Road between Glenview Avenue and Lime Kiln Lane to wrap up work in Zone 2.
  • We will also be working in the shoulder off River Road between Wolf Pen Branch Road and the (east end) Lewis and Clark Bridge. The road will be open, but please use caution when passing through this area.

Coming Soon

Beginning Monday, October 13, our active construction zone will move to the intersection of River Road and Zorn Avenue. We expect this intersection to remain closed for 5-7 days.

  • Drivers traveling east along River Road will detour onto Zorn Avenue heading south, turning left onto Mellwood Avenue. They will turn left to head north on Mockingbird Valley Road to resume traveling on River Road.  They can access local restaurants and shops including River Road BBQ, Haymarket, Kingfish, River House, and Louisville Turners.
  • Drivers traveling west on River Road towards downtown and Zorn Avenue will be detour onto Mockingbird Valley Road and continue onto Mellwood Avenue, heading west until they reach Frankfort Avenue. From there, they will detour onto Frankfort Avenue to resume travel on River Road in both directions.
  • Drivers traveling north on Zorn Avenue towards the Zorn/River Road intersection:
      • Westbound detour (towards downtown):
        • Left onto Mellwood Avenue and continue west to Frankfort Avenue. Continue north onto Frankfort Avenue to resume travel on River Road in both directions.
      • Eastbound detour (toward River Road BBQ, Haymarket, Kingfish, River House, Louisville Turners, Mockingbird Valley Road, and points east):
        • Right onto Mellwood Avenue and then left onto Mockingbird Valley Road. Drive north to reach River Road.

The entire project will continue through this year and into 2026. Our goal is to finish most of the work on River Road by next summer.

Note: To access Glenview Avenue and all local streets west of Glenview Avenue, you must enter River Road from Blankenbaker Lane.

A Louisville Water project is underway to improve the reliability of our infrastructure.

Louisville Water’s filtration process produces residual solids that must be removed from the treatment plant. The residual line is the pipeline that takes the residuals from the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant to lagoons at our B. E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in Prospect. The system is critical to daily water production at Crescent Hill. The current line, built in 1971, is reaching the end of its useful life, so we are building two new lines for increased redundancy.

The project runs along Reservoir Avenue from our plant in Crescent Hill down Zorn Avenue, along River Road from Zorn Avenue to Transylvania Avenue, and along Transylvania Avenue to our property at the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant. The plan includes the installation of dual 24-inch residual lines.

In order to maintain the safety of the public and our crews, it will be necessary to close sections of River Road during construction of these mains. The construction along River Road will occur in four work zones. Only one work zone at a time will be closed. Detours will allow access to homes and businesses. When construction is completed in each work zone, the road will be paved and reopened as we move east.
