University of Louisville fans have had plenty of reasons to cheer the last few months at the KFC Yum! Center – the women’s volleyball team made it to the national championship, an exhilarating women’s basketball team, and a reenergized men’s basketball team that just finished a thrilling 10-game winning streak!
Now, fans can root for the Cards and stay hydrated at six different Louisville Pure Tap® refillable bottle stations on the upper and main concourses. The Yum! Center recently announced visitors can bring an empty, clear reusable bottle into the facility to fill up at the water fountains.
Fans quench their thirst with high-quality, award-winning water and fewer single-use plastic bottles are tossed in the trash. It’s a win-win for everyone and this policy aligns with our and the Yum! Center’s commitment to sustainability.
“The KFC Yum! Center was one of the first places where Louisville Water partnered to make it easier to enjoy drinking water at an event,” said Kelley Dearing Smith, Louisville Water Communications & Marketing Vice President.
“Today, there are more than 120 branded bottle-filling stations at a dozen popular places in the city. Louisvillians love Louisville Pure Tap®, and this initiative reduces plastic waste and focuses on the value of tap water.”
Remember to BYOB (bring your own bottle) if you’re headed to watch the men’s basketball team take on the Miami Hurricanes this Saturday, February 8.
Pure Tap fun fact: We did the math, and the community’s efforts at Louisville Water’s refillable bottle stations have saved more than 6,200,000 bottles from going to the landfill! Check out this map to see where refillable bottle stations are located around town.
