Louisville Water recently participated in the Kentucky Rural Water Association (KRWA) Annual Conference in Lexington, joining water professionals from across the Commonwealth to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the water industry.
The annual conference brings together utility leaders, operators, engineers, communicators, and industry partners for education, networking, and collaboration.
“It was great to hear about all the important work that the Kentucky Rural Water Association is doing across the state,” said Ed Marin, communications specialist at Louisville Water.
Louisville Water exhibited at the event and highlighted its Water Grows KY℠ initiative, which showcases how reliable, high-quality water supports economic development throughout Kentucky. The initiative also shares the important role water plays in helping businesses grow, create jobs, and strengthen local communities.
At Louisville Water’s booth, utilities were encouraged to share their unique stories about how water powers their communities. From bourbon distilleries and paper mills to food manufacturers and automotive suppliers, attendees discussed the many industries that depend on a reliable water supply every day. Attendees added a sticky note to a banner, proving the diversity of the industries.
Louisville Water shared real-world examples of how water helps drive economic growth in its service area. Through a storytelling campaign called Made With Pure Tap®, Louisville Water showcases businesses that rely on high-quality water as an essential ingredient in their success.
Stories include bourbon distillers like Rabbit Hole Distillery, where water is a key ingredient in crafting award-winning bourbon, and Kentucky staples like Kern’s Kitchen, the maker of the famous Derby-Pie®, a Kentucky tradition enjoyed by generations of families and visitors. These businesses, along with countless manufacturers, food producers, and beverage companies across the Commonwealth, depend on reliable water infrastructure every day.
