As the manager of production operations for Louisville Water, Eric Gant takes his job personally. Of the nearly one million people who rely on the high-quality drinking water he helps deliver, his family is among them.
“It’s important because my family and I drink the water here too,” he said.
Gant and his team oversee Louisville Water’s two treatment plants and critical assets, like storage tanks and booster pump stations, to keep Louisville Pure Tap® flowing. It’s a complex job, and that’s part of what Gant says he enjoys most.
He put it simply: “No two days are the same.”
Gant says teamwork is what keeps everything moving forward. That is especially true as Louisville Water manages several projects near the Crescent Hill Filtration Plant while continuing to provide reliable service to customers. Success, Gant said, is often measured by what customers don’t experience.
“Whenever there are challenges, we all come together,” Gant said.
Behind the scenes, his team works around the clock to address any equipment issues, maintenance needs, or other operational challenges. That commitment helps maintain the trust customers place in Louisville Water every time they turn on the tap.
After 11 years on the job, Gant says it’s the colleagues who share that commitment make his work even more enjoyable.
“There are just a lot of really good people out here, a lot of people who really care,” he said proudly. “We all share that common goal of nice, clean drinking water for ourselves and our families.”
Outside of work, Gant stays busy with his wife and three children. He also enjoys tackling home projects and working on cars.
“I’m a mechanical engineer so I like working on things around the house, doing little projects, and I have some cars that need attention.”
Whether he’s at home with his family or overseeing operations at Louisville Water, Gant’s focus remains the same: ensuring people can trust the water flowing from their taps.
For Gant, that’s more than a professional responsibility. It’s a personal one, shared by employees across Louisville Water who are committed to providing safe, high-quality drinking water to the communities they call home.
