For the past seven years, Bill Buehner has worked as a plumber leader for Louisville Water.
When asked what he likes most about his job, Buehner said he enjoys working outdoors.
“I like being out in the field and working in a different location every day,” he said. “The best part of my job is getting to know the customers.”
Buehner said he and his crew are typically called to two job sites a day.
“We do pipeline construction and operational maintenance and we’re usually working in customers’ yards,” he said.
Because Buehner works with heavy equipment every day, he along with two other Louisville Water employees were chosen to compete in the American Public Works Association ROADeo.
The event is held at Cardinal Stadium and is a fun competition between local construction and utility workers.
During the competition, Buehner will demonstrate his skill using a backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer and snow plow.
“This is my first time participating in the ROADeo and I’m excited about it,” he said.
The ROADeo will take place Aug. 4. Participants compete for bragging rights and opportunities to compete at the regional and national level.
UPDATE: Buehner won the snow plow event and will advance to the national snow plow competition to be held in Colorado in September.
Good luck, Bill!
