Help available for families in need during pandemic

During the pandemic, more and more families need help to make ends meet.

On the third Saturday of each month, volunteers at the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church run a food pantry with donations from Dare to Care.

According to organizers, the food pantry feeds about 300 families regardless of income.

To help stretch resources a little further, Louisville Water placed Metro COVID-19 Relief flyers in each food box so people know there’s help for past-due water bills.

The program offers eligible customers who live in Jefferson County a one-time credit of up to $500 on past-due balances.

Just like the food pantry, Metro COVID-19 Relief is available for customers no matter their income.

“We’re just trying to get help for people that need it the most,” said Louisville Water Communications Consultant Barbara Crow.

The food pantry is located at 330 N. Hubbards Lane in St. Matthews.
