Louisville Water is in the business of public health, and our staff members often join other organizations at community events to provide health information and promote healthy lifestyles.
For instance, Community Relations Specialist Barbara Crow was part of the recent Healthy Kids Day at the Southeast Family YMCA, which drew a crowd of about 200 people.
The children enjoyed a range of physical activities, including jump rope, bounce houses, and a color run in which the kids ran through the event area while representatives from the participating organizations threw colorful powdered chalk in the air.
Crow said she helped the children make bracelets with colored beads that remind them to eat healthy foods and drink healthy beverages. She gave out stickers and temporary tattoos of our mascot, Tapper.
She also talked with many of the children’s parents about locating the water shutoff valve in their home as well as leak detection and the benefits of using the Pure Connect portal to pay bills and track water usage.
