What happens when the world’s largest bourbon, food, and music festival lands in your backyard? You serve guests a glass of water and capitalize on the economic development opportunity.
Bourbon & Beyond brings thousands of people from across the United States to Louisville and combined with its festival partner, Louder Than Life, more than 400,000 people visit Louisville for two weeks in September. That’s a lot of fans and an enormous economic impact, $43 million.
Where does Louisville Water land in this crowd? Front and center. During Bourbon & Beyond, One Louisville hosted six economic development professionals for a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places, and products that make Louisville a sure bet for business. Louisville Water, along with local, regional, and state partners showed guests what the region is building: a thriving logistics, manufacturing, food and beverage scene, plus bourbon, entrepreneurs, and global companies. Hospitality anchors tourism and iconic landmarks dot the landscape.

Louisville Water is part of every story and every success. During their stay, the economic development professionals toured the Louisville Water Tower, where Kentucky’s drinking water story begins; they sampled the finest tap water alongside Kentucky bourbon; and they got the scoop on rates, supply, quality, and service that make Louisville Water one of the premiere utilities in the country.
“I’ve never seen a water utility with this much personality,” explained one professional. “Water is part of every deal I make, but I’ve never thought of water in this sense.”
Louisville Water provides drinking water to nearly one million people in the region and that includes water to grow 24,000 businesses. The professionals who visited Louisville for Bourbon & Beyond certainly got a taste of Louisville’s culture, food, bourbon, and music. They also got a big glass of the Louisville Water story.
