Serving with a Purpose

LWSB school suppliesWhen the Louisville Water Service Board formed in June 2022, the idea was to create a group of employees who worked together to foster community within the company and foster philanthropy in the community. The Board quickly hit the ground running with a school supply donation drive and the list of projects and initiatives continued to grow from there.

The Service Board has left an impression not only inside the walls of Louisville Water but with the organizations it has helped.

Working together and with fellow Louisville Water employees, here are some of the achievements in less than three years:

  • Louisville Water Service Board at Kentucky Refugee MinistriesCollected school supplies and stuffed 2,500+ backpacks for JCPS students
  • Volunteered with Salvation Army Angel Tree 2022-2024; Adopted nearly 200 Angels
  • Planted trees in south Louisville with Louisville Grows
  • Prepared, cooked, and served meals to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK)
  • Donated more than $350 and filled 24 boxes with non-perishable food for Dare to Care
  • Organized a WaterStep shoe drive competition with MSD; Louisville Water collected 337 pounds of shoes to win the competition!
  • Filled boxes with food for Kentucky Refugee Ministries to serve more than 200 families
  • Assembled hygiene kits with Metro United Way for The Greatest Give Back

Service board retreatThe Service Board recently held a planning retreat which included a tour of the Capitol in Frankfort. Members reflected on their past accomplishments, their vision for the future, and looked at some of the projects they’d like to support in 2025. Among those- the RMHCK Red Tie Gala on February 22.

WaterStep shoe collectionStarting March 20, Louisville Water will go toe-to-toe with Louisville MSD for a shoe drive competition. The event kicks off just before World Water Day and benefits WaterStep, which works to provide clean water access around the world. Bring your gently used (not muddy or moldy) shoes to the donation box inside our lobby at 550 South Third Street. We appreciate your contributions to a great cause!
