Earlier this month, Louisville Water announced the sponsorship of two swimmers as they trained for a spot on Team USA. After a grueling week of trials, we are thrilled to announce that Zach Harting qualified for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Harting’s style of pacing himself early, then turning on the ‘boosters’ in the final laps made for an exciting event, and he finished the final race with a comfortable 0.3 second lead. He will represent Team USA and the city of Louisville in the 200-meter butterfly at the Tokyo games in July.
“…Ever since I was seven and I started swimming, my dream was to represent the U.S. at the Olympics,” said Harting. “Not a whole bunch of people get to turn their dreams into reality. I’m really grateful for that…That’s just dreams coming true.”
Louisville Water also sponsored Kelsi Dahlia, a teammate of Harting’s, in the trials. Dahlia swam a great meet, taking the top spot in the preliminary race, but was upset in the finals by teen phenoms Torri Huske and Claire Curzan. She finished in a competitive fourth place, and while she won’t be joining Harting in Tokyo, she is still making the city of Louisville proud! Dahlia previously won an Olympic gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro as part of the 4 x 100 meter medley relay team.
