Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg got an up-close look at the steps we take to make Louisville Pure Tap®. Members of our Executive Leadership Team and Louisville Water scientists recently gave the mayor and his staff a tour of our facilities that provided a look at our history, our record of water treatment innovations, and our current operations.
The tour included stops at the Zorn Avenue Pumping Station, Louisville Water Tower, the Crescent Hill Reservoir and Gatehouse, and the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant. The mayor even took a taste test in the lab — one of the hundreds of water quality tests we do daily.
The state of Kentucky chartered Louisville Water in 1854 as a private company. The city purchased some of the original shares of stock and, by 1906, purchased the outstanding shares and became the sole owner. Today, our governance model is one-of-a-kind.
