Spooky art on display at Crescent Hill Reservoir

Who would have guessed that ghosts enjoy drinking Louisville Pure Tap™, or that Halloween pumpkins hang out at the “pumpkin pool”? The students at Field Elementary School, that’s who!

This fall, Louisville Water sponsored a Halloween art contest for the students who were eager to share their Halloween spirit. The one catch? All of the artwork had to have a water theme. From hydrated haunts to splashing skeletons, the students at Field Elementary (with a little help from their teachers) let their creativity shine with these fun and spooky pieces.

The contest was created after COVID-19 caused Louisville Water’s annual “Trick or Treatment” event to be cancelled for the second year in a row. This popular celebration is typically held at the Crescent Hill Reservoir, where kids from all over the community gather to learn about water and enjoy a few treats along the way.

The event was especially popular with Field Elementary students and families because of the school’s proximity to the Reservoir and Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant.

“Trick or Treatment will be missed this year, and we wanted to find a way to bring a little of that spirit back to the community while still keeping everyone safe,” said Community Relations Specialist Barbara Crow.

The six winning entries are currently featured on a banner at the top of the Crescent Hill Reservoir with other ‘honorable mentions’ displayed on yard signs throughout.

Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite – just snap of photo and tag us online @LouisvilleWater to vote for your “People’s Choice” winner! The Crescent Hill Reservoir is open every day from dawn until dusk. Be sure to catch a peak of the art and other spooky decorations before they’re gone!
