Clay Shoot event raises $7K for students interested in water

Why would shooting at clay targets help future water professionals?

Because it was part of a special fundraising event that benefited student chapters of the American Water Works Association/Clean Water Professionals (AWWA/CWP).

Louisville Water Director of Engineering Jeremy Raney, Manager of Engineering MRRP Pat Howard, and Manager of Infrastructure Planning Jordan Basham joined water professionals from other utilities to participate in the 2022 Clay Shoot at the Jefferson Gun Club. Megan Talley, Louisville Water Manager of Metering Field Operations, volunteered her time to help organize the day.

Participants had the opportunity to shoot seventy-five clay targets across eighteen stations at the event, which was hosted by the Student Committee of the KY-TN Section of the AWWA. A complimentary lunch was provided, and awards were given.

Proceeds benefit student chapters at universities throughout Kentucky and Tennessee, including the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky, and Western Kentucky University. The funds will help the students host local outreach events, participate in design competitions, and attend the 2022 Kentucky-Tennessee Water Professionals Conference that will be held in Lexington.

Overall, the Clay Shoot raised $7,000 for the student chapters. The AWWA/CWP sent special thanks not only to the Louisville Water employees who participated and volunteered for the event but also to the company for donating one hundred Louisville Pure Tap® bottles.
