Picture-perfect weather was the icing on the cake for Louisville Water’s return of Walking Wednesday at the Crescent Hill Reservoir & Gatehouse.
Louisville Water opened the doors to the gatehouse on Wednesday, May 10. It’s fitting that the event fell during Drinking Water Week which highlights the role water has in our daily lives.
Regular walkers popped in for a look at the ornate gothic architecture and to learn some of the history behind the beautiful structure built in 1879.
While some guests happened to be in the right place at the right time, others like Kris Vance came specifically for the chance to walk around the gatehouse.
“To have an opportunity to come up here to the reservoir and actually see and read about the history inside was incredible, knowing that it went back to the 1800s,” Vance said.
Our beloved mascot, Tapper, continued his birthday celebration and joined the Walking Wednesday party during the evening open house session.
It wouldn’t be a birthday party without popcorn, treats, a prize wheel, photos, and of course, ice cold Louisville Pure Tap®! Spoiler alert- even the adults were joyful when they won a coveted Tapper plushie.
If you missed out, don’t worry, you have several more opportunities. Walking Wednesday is set for the second Wednesday of every month through October. Join us from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 5-7 p.m.
