Louisville Water Tower Photo Policy

Welcome to the Louisville Water Tower, one of Louisville’s most iconic landmarks. We are delighted to offer our beautiful venue for photography, and seek to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

Types of Photography

This policy is for portrait photography only (such as families, students, proposals, engagements, and other select special occasions). Prom / homecoming photography is not allowed at any time on the property. Any other professional photography (e.g., landscape, still life, fashion, product, commercial, etc.) is not permitted without prior approval.

➧ Portrait photographers may choose from a Day Pass ($25) or Annual Permit ($250).

Guidelines

Public Safety and the preservation of the historic Louisville Water Tower, Pumping Station No. 1, and grounds are the primary consideration of Louisville Water Company staff in all activities taking place at this National Historic Landmark. By purchasing a pass, you agree to the following conditions:

• Check Venue Availability: At least one week in advance, photographers must call or email to check the availability of the venue before planning a shoot. Photography is not permitted when Louisville Water Tower is closed for a private event.
• Drones are not permitted on Louisville Water Tower property.
• Use of props (e.g., candles, fireworks, sparklers, lanterns, fog machines, smoke bombs, balloons, rice, confetti, glitter, flower petals, etc.) are not permitted.
• Climbing or sitting on any part of the building, including windows, is strictly prohibited. (With the exception of staircases)
• Your photographer permit must be visible at all times, or you must have a copy of your receipt available for verification.
• Grounds, structures, walls, and buildings may not be damaged or altered. You will be held responsible for any expenses or losses incurred by Louisville Water as a result. Do not attach anything to any structure on the property.
• Respect the venue, please leave your photoshoot area(s) clean and free of trash.
• Minors must be supervised by an adult at all times.
• There are no public restrooms available.
• The property is available “as is” and Louisville Water makes no warranties as to its condition.
• You agree to indemnify and hold Louisville Water harmless with respect to any claim arising from your use of the property.

Louisville Water Security officers may verify compliance with the above conditions, and any visitors or photographers found to be in breach will be instructed to leave the property.
