School is out for the summer, which means many of you are searching for different activities to occupy the kids and keep their minds active. Louisville Water Tower is thrilled to participate in the 2026 Cultural Pass program.
“We’ll offer a lot of activities set up in the Grand Hall; build your own water tower with blocks or create a pipe system, you can make a hydration bracelet, scavenger hunts through the WaterWorks Museum,” said Museum Operations Supervisor Megan Jones.
You’re invited to visit the oldest ornamental standing water tower in the country, dig into Louisville Water’s rich history, and learn more about the story of your drinking water – Louisville Pure Tap®.
“I think it will intrigue students to want to learn more about engineering and the water and agricultural type of fields, so that’s one of the main reasons why I brought my students here,” shared Gary Harper, an engineering teacher at W.E.B. DuBois Academy.
One of Harper’s seventh grade students, Noah, admitted he never really thought about how we get clean drinking water.
“You have me thinking about it now. I didn’t think about that at first.”
Jones said, “They’re always amazed to learn how the drinking water gets to their house or school. It’s not just magic coming out of the faucet.”
Cultural Pass guests can explore the WaterWorks Museum, take a tour of the grounds, and discover how we produce and deliver clean water to nearly a million people every day!
“It’s a fun experience and a unique stop on the Cultural Pass list,” Jones said.
