Barreling to a new record

Kentucky’s bourbon industry set an inventory record last year with 9.2 million barrels aging in warehouses. The previous record was set in 2019 at just over 9.1 million barrels. Before then, the record was 8.7 million in 1968.

According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, bourbon has an $8.6 billion economic impact on the state each year, and the industry employs more than 20,000 people.

Louisville Water partners with several Kentucky distilleries, including Michter’s and Peerless, and we’re probably the only water utility in the world with a dedicated bourbon section on our website.
