Bourbon fire runoff had little impact on Louisville Water

Our scientists encountered few problems with the runoff from the Jim Beam warehouse fire in Woodford County, but to ensure we protected the taste of our water, they monitored as the ethanol plume moved from the Kentucky River to the Ohio River.

This spill was never a public health issue for our water, but certain adjustments to the treatment strategies were made to ensure taste and odor were not affected by the runoff.

As of last Thursday, the ethanol plume had moved past our area. Thank you to everyone for their diligence in making sure our high-quality water stayed that way!
