Last month was National Minority Health Month. Louisville Water partnered with Volunteers of America (VOA) to spread the word.
Four outreach events were held at grocery stores and community centers. The Kroger on North 35th Street, Louisville Water’s Education and Outreach staff handed out reusable Louisville Pure Tap™ bottles and talked with residents about the importance of staying hydrated.
VOA staff distributed healthy snacks and provided information on a program launched last summer with Humana Health, the Determined Health initiative, which provides care coordination, support for chronic disease management, and help with navigating health care resources.
The goal is to improve the overall health of West End residents by reducing health disparities.
