The water and brews were flowing last week as Louisville Water sponsored Cheers 101, a Beer Fest event hosted by the Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce. The Beer Fest is typically held in the summer with food, music, festivities, and of course lots of beer.
But in response to COVID-19, the event was downsized to a more intimate, socially distanced tasting at the Gaslight Diner.
Attendees got to sample nine different craft beers from across the country, while they learned about the distinct flavor profiles and processes associated with each style.
Beer in its final state is 95 percent water, which makes water an integral part of the brewing process. Louisville Water’s own Kelley Dearing Smith treated guests to a tasting of award-winning Louisville pure tap® and provided an inside look as to why Louisville’s water is such an asset to area brewers.
She also shared a little history, noting that brewers are one of Louisville Water’s oldest customers, a relationship that dates back over 150 years. Participants continued to enjoy pure tap with their brews throughout the night, keeping them hydrated and hopefully headache free the next morning!
