Louisville Water Creates Catchy Jingle, Video to Highlight Importance of Handwashing during COVID-19

Louisville Water has created a jingle and video that will help remind kids and adults of the proper way to wash hands.

“Hand Washin’ Germ Stoppin’” features Tapper, Louisville Water’s mascot, and a 20-second song that promotes the importance of soap, water, and a good scrub.

Louisville Water’s product, Louisville Pure Tap™ is essential for overall health and handwashing. Proper hygiene is important every day, but it’s especially critical in minimizing the spread of the coronavirus.

Hand Washin’ Germ Stoppin’ complements Louisville Water’s education program. Each year, Louisville Water educators teach thousands of children the importance of proper handwashing with an interactive experiment that shows how poorly most people wash their hands.  Louisville Water has also created a website that includes the video, a simple science experiment to show how germs spread and educational resources for parents and teachers. All materials were developed to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for handwashing and public health.

“Louisville Water’s product is a lifeline for the community,” said Kelley Dearing Smith, Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Louisville Water. “Our drinking water is linked to the health of our community.  Now, with the coronavirus, we’re part of the solution – proper handwashing with soap and water can stop the spread.”
