Louisville Pure Tap™ celebrates National Garden Week

The flowers are in bloom and tomatoes are just starting to grow on the vine. It’s almost summertime, and Louisville Water is excited to celebrate National Garden Week this week. Louisville Pure Tap™ plays a vital role in keeping our area’s gardens thriving.

With long sunny days and rising temperatures, plants need more than just rain to keep them healthy and hydrated. Whether you’re growing a single pot or a sprawling garden, Pure Tap will help keep your plants (and your thumb!) green.

Did you know that it takes 3.3 gallons of water to grow a single tomato? Total that up for the gardens of all sizes across our city and you are looking at a lot of water! Fortunately, Louisville has an abundant water source – the mighty Ohio River.

And Louisville Water employees are always working hard to ensure that there is always plenty of high-quality water available to keep you and your plants healthy all year round. Even with plenty of water to go around, smart watering practices will minimize waste and help save you money. We’ve got handy tips available to help you water efficiently this summer.

For National Garden Week, Louisville Water is celebrating with one of our Purely Local partners – St. Matthews Feed & Seed, located at 225 Chenoweth Lane.

The Pure Tap team will be onsite at the garden center from 9 a.m. to -1 p.m. on Sat., June 12. Come see us — we’ll have garden-themed goodies for customers and plenty of Pure Tap to keep you hydrated while you shop.
