Why is your water cloudy?

You turn on your tap to fill a glass with great tasting Louisville pure tap©, only to find the water in your glass is cloudy. This phenomenon is called entrained air and does not affect the quality of your water.

Cloudiness in your water this time of year is caused by tiny air bubbles. When water temperatures are cold, below 50 degrees, water absorbs extra oxygen. The air and water are held under pressure in your water pipes, much like the liquid in a bottle of soda. When you turn on your tap, the pressure is released, allowing the bubbles to appear, just as removing the cap from a soda bottle causes the soda to fizz.

Allow the glass of water to stand for a few moments and the cloudiness will begin to clear from the bottom to the top.
