Following a brief break from construction on River Road, Louisville Water gets back to work Tuesday, September 2, on installing pipes in a critical infrastructure project. That means you’ll need to follow the detour signs to access homes, businesses, and parks along River Road between Zorn Avenue and Lime Kiln Lane. We are currently working in Zone 2 near Glenview Avenue and Lime Kiln Lane.
Here’s why this work is important:
Louisville Water is installing two new water lines to remove byproducts from the water treatment process. This is necessary because our filtration process produces residual solids that must be removed from the treatment plant. The current line, built in 1971, is reaching the end of its useful life, so we are building two new lines for increased redundancy. The system is critical to daily water production at Crescent Hill.
Workers have made great progress as they move east toward the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in Prospect. Click the video below to learn more about what to expect in these next steps.
Looking ahead
Work in Zone 2 should wrap up in early November. The entire project will continue through this year and into 2026. Our goal is to finish most of the work on River Road by next summer.
