Flushing Your Water Lines
You may have received materials informing you to flush your lines due to construction activities that disturbed your water service line. Louisville Water recommends flushing your water lines anytime the water has not been used for an extended time and especially if any construction on water lines occurred. If there are construction activities that affect the plumbing, flushing the cold water lines and cleaning aerators are necessary because particles can get into your plumbing while crews are working on the pipes. This will clear any deposits that may have been sitting in your plumbing. In order to maintain high water quality, it’s important to replace any stagnant water with fresh water from the water main.
Depending on the building type, there are different methods to effectively flush the water lines.
See below to determine which method you should use.
