Louisville Water Pauses Work until September
A welcomed sight for drivers along River Road- the road fully reopened August 8. Louisville Water paused construction on its residual line project, clearing the way for full access to the road from Zorn Avenue to Prospect for the month of August.
Louisville Water is installing two new water lines to remove byproducts from the water treatment process. Crews have installed more than half of the pipe on River Road since work began on March 10. Zone 1 started at the intersection of River Road and Zorn Avenue. Workers have made great progress as they move east toward the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant.
Drivers will notice a smoother ride along River Road. We paved and restriped the road along the route where we completed work. While work is paused on River Road, Louisville Water is continuing to install pipe in other areas. We also have an active construction zone on Transylvania Avenue near the intersection with River Road.
During the project, we are committed to maintaining access to the businesses, restaurants, and parks the community enjoys. We will repost signage directing drivers to current entry and exit paths around these areas once work resumes in Zone 2 on Tuesday, September 2. We will start near Glenview Avenue and Lime Kiln Lane. Work in Zone 2 should wrap up in early November.
The entire project will continue through this year and into 2026. Our goal is to finish most of the work on River Road by next summer. You can find regular updates on LouisvilleWater.com/ResidualLineProject and on our social media channels, in addition to signing up for weekly emails.
