Buy a dress, support water assistance

Altar’d State, a women’s clothing and accessories boutique at Oxmoor Center, is donating 10 percent of net proceeds every Monday to the Louisville Water Foundation.

Throughout the year, Altar’d State stores host Mission Mondays that “support organizations who feed the hungry, assist service men and women, boost self-esteem, love on those undergoing treatment and house the homeless.”

The current fundraising effort, which lasts through July 5, is the first time the company has selected a water theme. Local employees chose the Louisville Water Foundation because of “the variety of projects it has supported in the past both locally and globally,” said Mary Stone, a consultant for the Foundation.

Altar’d State hopes to raise $5,000 to $8,000 to support the Foundation’s work. Store staff also donate four hours a month to community service, and Stone is connecting them to organizations that the Foundation has supported.
