Worked at Louisville Water since 1996
For nearly 30 years, Plant Maintenance Mechanic Israel Temple has worked at Louisville Water’s treatment plants.
“I help maintain our water plants and the booster pump stations that regulate pressure around our service area,” he said.
He’s one of 16 mechanics that help keep Louisville Pure Tap® flowing.
Temple said his coworkers and management team are just a few reasons why he’s stayed at Louisville Water for so long.
“The best parts about my job are the people I report to. When you have bosses that respect you and your opinions, that respect is returned and there’s a work environment that is productive and enjoyable. After all, we have the same common goal: get the job done and provide for our families. It is also nice to be surrounded by so many talented mechanics,” he said.
For someone seeking to become a maintenance mechanic, Temple offered the following advice:
“Learn as much about as many trades as possible. This job is not a single trade position. You must know about plumbing, mechanical applications, welding, electrical and more.”
When he’s not at work, Temple enjoys a good workout and the great outdoors with his loved ones.
“I’m blessed with a wonderful family that I don’t deserve. They are a humbled man’s answered prayer,” he said. “I love camping, boating, and working out. I also coach at a CrossFit gym named Four Barrel Fitness in New Albany. It is a passion of mine to help people achieve their fitness potential. Faith, family and fitness are the three F’s that have never failed me.”
