Louisville Water employees raise over $130,000 for charities

Even with the many obstacles Louisville Water employees faced in 2020, our staff gave back to the community. Their annual employee fundraiser, the Combined Giving Campaign, raised more than $130,000 through employee payroll deductions, one-time contributions, and virtual events.

The money will benefit four company-supported charities: Fund for the Arts, Metro United Way, Louisville Water Foundation, and Water For People.

“I am very proud of our employees,” said Spencer Bruce, Louisville Water President & CEO. “It’s amazing to see how their commitment to communities here and around the world goes above and beyond, even in the most challenging of times.”

Water For People is an international nonprofit based in Denver that brings water, sanitation, and hygiene services communities all over the world. Water For People CEO Eleanor Allen thanked the Louisville Water employees who have donated to the charity for years.

“The generous support of Louisville Water employees for Water For People over the last 15 years has helped us impact millions of people with reliable access to clean water, safe sanitation, and improved hygiene,” said Allen. “This has been of vital importance during COVID as handwashing saves lives. The resiliency of our work is demonstrating lasting change. Thank you, Louisville Water, for your commitment to improving the quality of life for everyone forever.”

The fundraiser committee, led by Vice President and Chief Engineer Tim Kraus, came up with creative and virtual ways to raise money for charity this year. While the regular employee events, like a fish fry, barbeque, and cornhole tournament, were cancelled due to the pandemic, new events virtual events were added, including an online silent auction and pet photo contest.
