Louisville Water Service Board’s Work Helps Provide Relief & Comfort

RMHCK - Meals from the heartWhen the Louisville Water Service Board formed in June 2022, it had a vision of giving back to our community and impacting people in need through various projects. One year later, the group walked through the doors of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK). They showed up with open minds and open hearts to serve Meals from the Heart to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House while their children received critical medical care.

“When you have a sick child, your mind is overwhelmed with worry and decisions, so not having to think about where you’ll sleep or how you’ll get a meal is extraordinary,” shared Corporate Risk Coordinator Sonja Minch, a member of the Service Board.

Since that day in the RMHCK kitchen, the Service Board has welcomed new members and said goodbye to others. What hasn’t changed is the commitment to supporting the charity. The team kicked off 2026 with another chef-led experience.

“Volunteering in the kitchen, chopping, cooking, and serving meals does more than fill plates; it fills hearts, offers families nourishment, comfort, and a moment of peace while they focus on what matters most,” shared Financial Analyst Liz Davis, a new member of the Service Board.

Red Tie GalaIn late February, the Board attended the Red Tie Gala which raised over a half million dollars. That adds up to nearly 3,500 nights of relief for families who turn to the organization and house during some of their darkest days.

Minch said, “Having had a friend who relied on Ronald McDonald House, their mission is truly near and dear to my heart. RMH provides a caring, comfortable refuge during an incredibly difficult time. I am very proud to play even a small part in supporting the important work they do.”

The Service Board is already looking forward to serving up more Meals from the Heart.
