Pandemic brings new normal for employees

Louisville Water’s commitment to produce and deliver safe drinking water has remained consistent during COVID-19.

Although our production and delivery routines have not changed, social distancing has created a “new normal” for employees.

At the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant, scientists once worked side by side in the water quality lab. Now, only one scientist is allowed in the lab at a time and employees delivering water samples work staggered shifts.

Crews called out to water main breaks used to be able to ride in one truck. Now, due to social distancing each worker must drive alone, so you may see several maintenance trucks at a job site.

In the water metering department, plumber leaders and assistant plumber leaders often work in pairs. Our employees wear masks and gloves while working six feet apart.

Following these safety rules ensures we can continue providing essential water services to the community.
