Tuition assistance program enhances management skills

Louisville Water Company offers programs that help its employees develop their careers, including financial assistance for those interested in earning a degree at a local college or university.

Many employees have taken advantage of this tuition assistance program, including Customer Care Manager Tendra Burnett, who has been with Louisville Water for nine years. In 2014, she received a master’s degree in Human Resources Leadership from Sullivan University.

“I wanted to expand my knowledge in the leadership field,” she said. “I had wanted to go back [to school] for a while, but it was very expensive. When I heard about the tuition assistance program, I took advantage of it.”

Now that she has completed her degree, she has seen how beneficial it has been to her position.

“I’ve taken many Human Resource courses, which has helped out a great deal with conducting interviews, hiring, and being informed of the labor laws,” explained Burnett.

“I have also taken many courses on different areas of leadership, which has helped tremendously in my management career.”
