Water For People Donations Reach $600,000

In all, Louisville Water and its employees have donated $600,000 over the years.

“Wow, that’s impressive,” said Julie Kauffman, Water For People Business Development Manager. “Louisville Water’s support has allowed Water For People to implement and prove our mission of Everyone Forever [which means] every single person – even the hardest-to-reach, the most vulnerable, the marginalized – has access to safe and reliable water, sanitation, and hygiene services in the districts we work. And Forever means that the local community and government have the skills, knowledge, resources, and financing to keep the water and sanitation systems running for the long-term.”

Kaufmann added that “Louisville Water and employee generosity has helped us reach more than 4.7 million people with access to safe, reliable water in the past five years, which means more children staying in school and more economic opportunities for individuals. Beyond the numbers, it’s students like Martin in Rwanda, who was able to stay in school rather than fetching water each day. It’s also people like Debasis who works as a jalabandhu, repairing water points in India.”
