Worked at Louisville Water since 2016
As a metering plumber leader assistant, Andrea Belden works on large meters in large vaults underground.
Belden said her favorite part of her job is working outdoors and with the community she serves.
“My crew leader (Katie Cooper) and I communicate and work very well together. A lot of work is scheduled so we have to be in touch with customers and plan out what works best for them,” she said.
Belden works with a crew and cooperation is key.
“We do different jobs on the daily and you’ve got to be able to work well with others. It’s all about teamwork!” she said.
For someone looking for a career in metering, Belden gave the following advice:
“Someone wanting to work in this field would have to be able to deal with different types of weather. Also, someone who doesn’t mind getting dirty.”
When Belden isn’t climbing in and out of meter vaults, she still enjoys being around water in a different kind of way.
“In my spare time I like to go on trips. I like kayaking and spending time with my family,” she said.
Belden also works with the Highlander Fire Protection District, a volunteer branch of the Lafayette Township Fire Department in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
“I’ve been a firefighter for 25 years and I love it. I enjoy helping people the best way I can.”
