As we celebrate National Infrastructure Week, Louisville Water’s investment in our infrastructure is visible along River Road. Our residual line project continues to move east toward the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in Prospect. Crews have installed 30% of the pipe needed or 900 ‘sticks of pipe’.
We are transitioning from Zone 1 between Zorn Avenue and Blankenbaker Lane to Zone 2 (River Road between Blankenbaker Lane and Lime Kiln Lane). The intersection at Blankenbaker Lane and River Road remains closed, but we expect to reopen it later this week once paving is completed in Zone 1.
A project of this size requires precision and skills to maneuver and install hundreds of large pipes underground. It’s similar to a puzzle.
Important things to know:
- This is a multi-phase project along River Road with rolling closures.
- Customers will not lose water service during construction.
- Restaurants and businesses along River Road will remain open during the project.
This project will continue through this year and into 2026. Our goal is to finish most of the work on River Road by next summer.
