Louisville Water Helps Homeowners Become Leak Detectives

Fix a Leak Week: March 20-26

fix-a-leak-weekDon’t pay for water you don’t use. It sounds easy enough, but did you know one in 10 homes has a leak that can waste as much as 90 gallons a day? During Fix a Leak Week, Louisville Water is on a mission to help homeowners become leak detectives!

Spring is a great time to find and fix those costly leaks. It’s always important to know where your main water shutoff valve is located. Ginny on the Job shows you how easy it is to find it, tag it, and test it before an emergency.

Louisville Water is hosting a couple events this week where the public can ask questions, pick up a shutoff valve tag, and learn how to detect those leaks before they get sticker shock with a big bill!

  • Monday, March 20 & Friday, March 24
    • Louisville Water lobby from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    • 550 South Third St., Louisville, KY
  • Saturday, March 25
    • The Home Depot – 8232 Preston Hwy. from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    • Meet Ginny on the Job

One more tip is if you haven’t already, sign up for water usage alerts in your Pure Connect℠ account. This can help indicate a possible leak before it causes damage.

As part of being a good neighbor, Louisville Water also reached out to roughly 1,000 customers who experienced burst pipes in their home during the arctic blast in December. Participants at Harbor House packaged home protection tips for a special delivery that also included a bright yellow shutoff valve tag.
