Pouring out Pure Tap and Hospitality at La Casita

Louisville Water at La-CasitaLocals know Louisville Water provides high-quality drinking water. For over a year, we have worked with La Casita Center to build that same reputation and trust with the Latinx community in Louisville.

More than 500 families attended La Casita’s Resource Tuesday on May 14. They received food, clothing, and diapers, but also learned about services available for their medical and educational needs in addition to employment opportunities.

Louisville Water greeted families with cups of ice-cold Louisville Pure Tap®. We also handed out reusable bottles, posters about proper handwashing, soap sheets, and coloring sheets for the children.

Mosaic awards

Later that same night, Louisville Water attended the Jewish Family & Career Services MOSAIC Awards where La Casita’s hospitality coordinator, Juanita Perez, was one of five honorees. The awards recognize refugees and immigrants in Greater Louisville who have had a positive impact in our city. In her speech, Perez shared she is a proud indigenous Mayan woman that comes from humble beginnings in Guatemala. She went on to say that when she started at La Casita, she dreamed of someday being able to help other people the way she was helped.

And while Perez will continue her work welcoming new families to Louisville, Louisville Water will continue its important work with La Casita. We have partnered for a research project to learn more about the best way to communicate with the Latinx community.
