Former board member passes away

Tierra Kavanaugh (Turner) Wayne, former member of the Board of Water Works, passed away April 30.

Wayne, CEO of TKT & Associates, served for two years as a dedicated member of the Board and her contributions continue to have a lasting impact Louisville Water. She was appointed to the Board, the governing body of Louisville Water, by Mayor Greg Fischer in 2017.

“She was a great asset to Louisville Water and to this community,” said Spencer Bruce, Louisville Water President & CEO. “For Louisville Water, she provided important guidance on our new Small Business Program, supported our efforts to be a premiere water utility in this country, and challenged us to continually improve.

More importantly, she was a great friend to all of us. I am heartbroken for her family. She will be missed by everyone.”

Wayne, a native of Danville, Kentucky, graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In 2006, Wayne founded TKT & Associates, Inc., which has become a leader in workplace diversity management and professional staffing for the public and private sectors. She also led two other companies, ASTUTE Sourcing and TKTKonnect.

She held various management positions with companies such as BellSouth Mobility (now known as AT&T) and American Express. In 2004, Wayne was appointed by Governor Ernie Fletcher to serve as the first executive director for the Governor’s Office of Minority Empowerment. Wayne was also an active member of Greater Louisville Inc. and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
