Serving the innocent

Louisville Water’s Sherry Mitchell brought a service project idea to her managers in Customer Care & Business Operations.

She told them that the Home of the Innocents is requesting donations for personal hygiene items for the more than 500 kids living with them throughout the year.

Customer Care Supervisor Alicia Overall loved this idea for the department’s Christmas project.

“We thought this would be a great way for Louisville Water to support our community,” said Overall. “Customer care employees are voluntarily donating hygiene items and management is matching their donation dollar for dollar.”

The dollar match was in the form of additional personal hygiene items that were pre-purchased by the leadership team at Louisville Water. Participants provided their supervisor with their receipt, completed a Dollar Match voucher, then selected pre-purchased additional items from the online Amazon pantry such as body wash, soap, shampoo, deodorant, hairbrushes, and lotion.

Customer care associates delivered several boxes of items on Wed., Dec. 15 to the Home of the Innocents. The home has several wish lists on their website for help year-round.
